When we set out to build the first commercial production greenhouse in Kentucky, we had a pretty simple idea: to grow fresh, healthy produce that people could enjoy with the comfort of knowing they can trust the source. Ever since, we’ve been humbled and inspired by the resilience, ingenuity, and spirit of the community we call home.
In 2016, we made a promise – to bring 21st century technology and knowhow to Stanford and build a new farm so advanced that it could inspire many more people to change the world in a positive way. Along the way we faced naysayers, roadblocks and we quickly learned that, to keep this promise, we had to innovate.
We fought, we won, and we lost too many times to count, but along the way we made a few friends that share our sense of community as well as our commitment to change. We’re proud to count these people and organizations as friends.

VITOK ENGINEERS
For over 50 years, VITOK Engineers has offered its clients complete engineering design solutions. VITOK accomplishes this by staffing every major engineering discipline within the company. This affords all projects the necessary input and consideration from each engineering discipline to provide a seamless design in a coordinated fashion. VITOK Engineers designs new or expands existing industrial applications for chemical plants, manufacturing facilities, distilleries, food processing, and agricultural facilities.
A combination of Process, Mechanical, Environmental, and Electrical Controls Engineering expertise enables VITOK Engineers to be uniquely positioned to strategically support Kentucky Fresh Harvest. This wide breadth of experience and expertise in everything from Air/Water permitting to process control & optimization and power distribution makes VITOK a crucial part of Kentucky Fresh Harvest's network.
ORBIT GAS TRANSMISSION
- Jim Martin, President
Jim is currently President of Orbit Gas Transmission which is a state-regulated 50-year company operating in western Kentucky engaged in producing, gathering, transmission and sales of natural gas. He is also President of Orbit Gas Storage, a 13-year company engaged in the development of new inter- and intrastate natural gas storage assets. Prior to Orbit, Jim had nearly 25 years’ experience at a major interstate natural gas pipeline company including Facility Planning, Cost & Material Control and ultimately Business Development roles involving the development and optimization of energy related projects ranging from pipeline and storage expansions to potential merger and acquisition analyses. He provided guidance ranging from long-range supply development projects to fast-paced, rapid growth opportunities such as gas-fired power development.
RISING SUN
Rising Sun Development is never content with yesterday’s achievements, RSD is motivated by a vision of growth for tomorrow. In 1997, Rising Sun was founded by father-son team Jason and Jimmy Akers to fulfill this vision. They began by building post offices. In the decades since, their team has grown to approximately 300. They self-perform challenging projects with pride, and invest in our team and community.
